Some ideas take a little tweaking like this DIY paint stand

Once I get on a roll with something, I tend to get carried away and my latest obsession is building DIY stands for use around the classroom out of PVC pipes. However, some ideas take a little tweaking like this DIY paint stand.

We have been spending time talking about opposites which sparked the idea of creating a painting process that explored the concept of back and forth. I wanted it to be a cool process so I made this PVC stand and painted it.

The first day, I added paint brushes and watered down paint. Although the children found the process interesting, it really didn’t paint or drip all that well.

Not to be deterred, I switched out the brushes to water paint pens and made the strings a little bit longer. This worked much better…

Of course, I can use my DIY stand for other types of activities – I am just trying to figure out what they might be! If you have any ideas for what else I could use my DIY stand for I would love for you to leave them in the comment section below…

Every time I think I know everything I need to know about teaching young children, God says, "Hold on a minute!" and gives me a new challenge.

Let me tell ya...

With each new challenge that you overcome, you will find yourself better equipped and more passionate about teaching young children.

God didn't call wimps to lead, teach, or care for His children. Nope, he has high expectations, so get ready. You will have to give your very best but after teaching for over 30 years, I can tell you that it is a wonderful and rewarding journey.

Whenever your calling feels hard, just remember, 'He who began a good work in you (and in the children you serve) will be faithful to complete it.'
