A tea party for moms in preschool

My students spent the past few weeks preparing for our Mother’s Day Tea Party. It always takes a little planning ahead of time to get everything to fall in place but here is a final view of our special day.

I try to include the children on all parts of preparing for the day beginning with preparing the lemonade…

And cutting up our fruit…

Once the food is all prepared, we clean up and it is time to set the tables. First comes the table cloths…

Then the table settings…

And then the flowers…

Once the moms arrive, the children start our celebration by singing a few favorite simple songs…

Then the children give their mom’s the gifts they made…

The pictures and cards the children made are shared with moms too…

The moms (or grandmas, aunts, and others) and children spend the rest of the time eating, talking, and just enjoying this special time together…

Every time I think I know everything I need to know about teaching young children, God says, "Hold on a minute!" and gives me a new challenge.

Let me tell ya...

With each new challenge that you overcome, you will find yourself better equipped and more passionate about teaching young children.

God didn't call wimps to lead, teach, or care for His children. Nope, he has high expectations, so get ready. You will have to give your very best but after teaching for over 30 years, I can tell you that it is a wonderful and rewarding journey.

Whenever your calling feels hard, just remember, 'He who began a good work in you (and in the children you serve) will be faithful to complete it.'
