Make your fire safety week fun and interactive with these neat ideas!
We are coming to the end of our week on fire safety and let me tell you, it has been one busy week! I thought of so many ways we could explore fire safety and a hands down favorite of the week was putting out fires with our DIY fire extinguishers…
I found a little fire fighter vest, hat and pretend fire extinguisher to help us introduce our fire safety topic during circletime and then decided it would be fun to do more with a set of DIY fire extinguishers…
Making a DIY Fire Extinguisher
I made a set of DIY fire extinguishers by covering empty spray bottles with red and black tape then adding a simple paper label to each one so they each resembled a real looking fire extinguisher then we filled them all with water. The children enjoyed spraying the extinguishers outside and in our outdoor classroom…
Practicing Fire Safety Outdoors
The children went outside and painted fire on our trees with red and yellow tempera paint..
We had flames going up all over the yard…
It’s a good thing that we had our fire extinguishers ready to go…
Hands-on-learning with Fire Safety
The young firefighters went right to work putting out every flame they could find…
They were serious about getting the job done…
They looked high and low until the flames were all under control but then…
Our young firefighters discovered that there were more flames all around the windows of our outdoor classroom.
Exploring Fire Safety through Dramatic Play
In fact, there were even flames blazing up on our firehouse…
Some of the children had a good idea to call 911 and get help quick!…
Help came just in time…
The firefighters took care of all the fires and could now head home to rest after a very big day on the job…
