Simple ways to explore sound in your classroom!
We have been exploring our five senses and this was one way we explored our sense of hearing….
Use a Variety of Instruments
Sitting out on a table, the children found a variety of different blocks, xylophones, tin cans, oatmeal cans, Pringle cans, and small mallets. Â The xylophones and mallets that you see in this photo came from Target in their dollar spot isle…
The children stopped by the sound table all throughout the morning to tap on each of the different sound makers we had available…
Comparing Different Sounds
Almost every object on the table made a different sound. The children spent time checking out and comparing the different sounds of each object on the table…
Working Together
The children also liked to play their sound makers together. We even had one child who directed the others by counting “1, 2, 3, 4” and then everyone would begin to tap the sound makers together…
Why we Love this Sound Exploration Activity
This activity was a wonderful way to explore our sense of hearing as it invited the children to use their ears to listen to the different sounds, compare the different sounds, tap out rhythms, sing songs, and work in cooperation with each other…
