I started my first set of DIY toddler board books by searching around the house for toys my grandson has but rarely plays with. In the bottom of a toy drawer, I found this odd set of blocks. There were about 10 blocks total and for the most part, my grandson just throws them around the house or ignores them all together…
I hot glued one block to each side of the book using LOTS of hot glue to keep those two blocks in place. This book is more like a toy than a book because I glued the blocks to the front and back of the book and we lay the book flat to play with it…
I started out by stacking the blocks together while my grandson looked on with a little bit of curiosity. Then my grandson took all the blocks off the book…
I left the board book out for my grandson to come and go and he would stop by and sometimes add a few blocks or come back and take the blocks off the book…
 It was actually one of the first times I have seen my grandson actually stop to fit the blocks together rather than just take them apart. It was pretty cool to watch him and it was also a fun way to use the blocks that I may have just tossed out on my next cleaning spree…
I also decided it would be fun to bring a collection of books with us when we go out to eat. I keep the book and the blocks in a little plastic bag and when it looks like we need a little entertainment, I set them out for my grandson to play with. My daughter is here playing with my grandson while we wait for our breakfast to be served…
