Painting with kool-aid in preschool

This painting activity was a big success as the children enjoyed the colors, smells, and texture…

.

The paint mixture included a little bit of corn syrup, some white paint, and a variety of flavored Kool-Aid which added smell and color.

The children were given a large sheet of white easel paper to paint on that had little tracing of objects they were exploring for the week.  It is certainly just as good to allow for just free painting as well but the children did seem to like painting each of the tracings.

The paint mixture leaves a shiny finish and the paint glides on smoothly.

After a bit, many of the children decided they wanted to try mixing the colors on their canvas as well.

There is something about watching children paint that I just love to observe. I like to see what captures their interest the most and in this case, it was the mixing of the colors. The children enjoyed swirling around the colors on their canvas.

Every time I think I know everything I need to know about teaching young children, God says, "Hold on a minute!" and gives me a new challenge.

Let me tell ya...

With each new challenge that you overcome, you will find yourself better equipped and more passionate about teaching young children.

God didn't call wimps to lead, teach, or care for His children. Nope, he has high expectations, so get ready. You will have to give your very best but after teaching for over 30 years, I can tell you that it is a wonderful and rewarding journey.

Whenever your calling feels hard, just remember, 'He who began a good work in you (and in the children you serve) will be faithful to complete it.'
